I'm a formal sciences student with side passions for gender studies, science fiction, fitness, and hockey. After going through the traditional childhood progression of career plans—dolphin trainer, paleontologist, surgeon, actress, novelist, lawyer—I thought I had settled on software engineering/web development, but recently I've been considering alternative plans including becoming a personal trainer or traffic engineer, or starting a private tutoring business. I am attending the Unschool Adventures camp this summer.
I attended private school from preschool through 3rd grade, after which I started homeschooling because the math I was learning wasn't challenging me. I began attending community college at 12, took the high school proficiency exam at 13 to receive my certificate of equivalency (the California state equivalent of a GED), and have since been attending a mix of community college classes and non-degree program university classes. Although health issues forced me to withdraw from my classes last semester, I still plan to complete a BS in Computer Science and most likely go on to graduate school, but I know the ZTC approach will help me stay a motivated lifelong learner and handle any curveballs life throws my way.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian and my workout routine is a mix of running, weightlifting, mat pilates, and yoga. I'm also a classical dressage rider, and a future ice hockey player (despite never having skated until earlier this year—never give up on your dreams!).
